Abstract

R. Lowen has introducedin 1976 a fuzzy compactness for fuzzy topological spaces, Wang has generalized it in 1988 to L -fuzzy topological spaces, and given it a characterization by means of nets. In this paper, we obtain some new characterization for Lowen's compactness in L -fuzzy topological spaces means of remote neighborhood families, r -covers, α-filters, and the family of closed L -fuzzy subsets which has the finite intersection property. In addition, we have proved that Lowen's compactness is an ‘ L -good extension’ of usual compactness in general topological spaces.
