Abstract
Low-energy excitations of amorphous and semicrystalline poly(ethylene terephthalate)s (PETs) have been studied by inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering in an energy range of 0.2–10 meV. It was found that the low-energy excitation is not affected by the density fluctuations observed around Q = 0.03 A ̊ −1 in the amorphous state. It was also found that dynamic scattering law S c( Q, ω) of the crystalline phase is not described by the Debye theory, suggesting that the crystalline phase includes many disordered regions from which the low-energy excitation is originated.
