Abstract

To resolve a discrepancy existing as an energy or angular dependence in the reaction gamma + p yields pi /sup +/ + n, angulat distributions of pi / sup +/ mesons from hydrogen at 185 Mev gamma energy were measured using a Bremsstrahlung beam of maximum energy 220 Mev produced by an electron linear accelerator. The meson counting rate was calibrated at a given meson energy under the kinematical conditions in which experimental sets of data at fixed momentum transfer were used (NSA, 15: 31537). The cross section is known and described by the Chew-Goldberger-LowNamber theory. Results are in agreement with those of M. Beneventano et al. (Nuovo Cimento 4: 323(1956)) and in disagreement with M. I. Adamovich et al. (Proceedings of the 1960 Annual International Conference on High Energy Physics at Rochester, 330(1960)). (L.N.N.)
