Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to compare and document low cost open source SCADA options available for remote controlling and monitoring of inverters. To achieve this objective from the client side, interface between inverter and the SCADA has been developed. Three low cost options are being tested and tabulated the paper comparing inherent advantages and disadvantages. From the server side four different methods are being tested compared in terms of security, ease of installation, ease of using and ease of integrating new components. Results demonstrates that for the cost client side interface ESP12E based Wi-Fi shows lowest cost and suitability for the application while thingspeak based local server has been selected as the best option for the server side.
