Abstract

A comparative study of two different solid state synthesis methods of triclinic FeVO4 is carried out systematically to understand the effect of mechanical milling on sintering temperature. Standard solid state reaction method is implemented with manual grinding and firing in 500°C and 650°C alternately mechanical attrition using a ball mill for different time period ranging 12 hr to 48 hrs and firing at 350°C, 400°C, 450°C, 600°C and 650°C was carried out to check the evolution of structure in both cases. The evolution of triclinic structure with space group P-1 (2) at as low as 400°C in mechanically milled samples is evidenced through X – ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopic studies. Low temperature synthesis of FeVO4 will be quiet helpful in developing nanoparticles for various applications.
