Abstract
Studies on low-temperature synthesis of α-alumina from concentrated solutions of aluminum salt and urea at low temperature are reported. Characterization studies by both physical and chemical means reveal formation of α-alumina with density<0.3 g/cm 3, suitable for polishing and grinding use.
