Abstract

Heat-capacity measurements between 1.6 and 4.2\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K were made on a series of $\ensuremath{\alpha}$-phase copper-silver alloys. The results suggest that the density of states at the Fermi surface decreases slightly upon alloying. Values of the effective thermal mass calculated from the data are also found to decrease upon alloying. These results are interpreted to mean that the Fermi surface is becoming more spherical.
