Abstract

A new Faraday force magnetometer has been developed to perform static magnetization measurements on heavy electron compounds at temperatures down to 100 mK and in fields up to 9 T. The results of the measurements on single crystals of CeB 6, CePt 2Si 2 and CeRu 2Si 2 reveal new features in the low temperature metamagnetic properties of these compounds.
