Abstract

A novel low temperature interrupted quenching treatment (80 °C_1h) for Al-Mg-Si alloys is presented, which exhibits an enviable combination of high work hardening ability, lower concentration of free vacancies and stable precursors for β’’ precipitates, resulting in good formability for processing and high strength after final paint-bake treatment.
