Abstract

A series of Cu/MoO3 catalysts with different Mn contents were prepared by precipitation method. To probe the promotion role of Mn, Cu/MoO3 catalysts were doped with 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 1 wt% of Mn. Different analytical techniques like Inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Nitrogen adsorption desorption technique (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller BET), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) were utilized to gauge physicochemical profile of Mn promoted Cu/MoO3 catalysts. Activity studies of the catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation to methanol were executed in three-phase slurry batch reactor. The comparative data of activity studies showed that rate of methanol synthesis was comparable with the recorded data in the literature for the title reaction.
