Abstract

The small but definite heat capacity anomalies at the Curie temperature Tc have been detected for the first time in weakly ferromagnetic ZrZn2 samples, by the steady state calorimetry technique. The variation in the Tc's of the samples could be accounted for by the degree of order, determined by the annealing schedules. The density of states (and hence γ) is quite high for all ZrZn2 samples and it does not directly correlate with the variation in their Tc's. We would expect a value of γ ≃ 28 mJ/gm‐mole‐°K2 and θD ≃ 280°K for a completely nonmagnetic ZrZn2.
