Abstract

A technique frequently used in the manufacture of magnet coils is to provide turn and / or layer insulation using a woven glass tape that has been pre-impregnated with epoxide resin and is co-wound with an electrically insulating polymer film. Polyimide films have excellent dielectric characteristics and are resistant to ionising radiation but the adhesive does not adhere well to the film and low bond strengths often result.
