Abstract

We report the 31P NMR spectrum and spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1 as a function of temperature in the two-dimensional frustrated square lattice compound BaCdVO(PO4)2. The temperature dependence of 1/T1 indicates the existence of antiferromagnetic ordering at TN ∼ 1.05 K which is also evidenced by the broadening of the NMR spectrum below that temperature. The temperature dependences of 1/T1 and 1/T1Tχ just above TN demonstrate the importance of two-dimensional antiferromagnetic spin correlations for critical fluctuations.
