Abstract

A coherent front-end for X-band multichannel chirped radar based on the phase-synchronous optoelectronic oscillator (OEO) with low phase noise is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. In the experiment, the pulses with an instantaneous frequency decreasing from 9.96 to 9.94-GHz are transmitting and receiving. The corresponding phase noise is about –132.1 dBc/Hz at 10-kHz offset frequency. Thanks to the direct digital synthesizer (DDS), the repetition rate and occupied bandwidth can be flexible tuned. For the simulative three-channel system, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the received signal was enhanced as 4.73-dB relative to that before pulses accumulation. The proposed method can be potentially applied in the multi-channel radar.
