Abstract

A mixed method finite-element formulation for non-linear plane-strain elastic deformations is described. Incompressibility is built in explicitly. All fields have piecewise linear approximants over triangles except pressure, which is taken to be constant over matched pairs of triangles. The code is used in an investigation of the tilting mode of deformation of bonded rubber blocks. In particular the variation of tilting moment with aspect ratio is focused on for a range of tilting angles.
