Abstract

The spectrum of copper has been observed on 10.7 m normal incidence and 10.7 m grazing incidence spectrographs at the National Bureau of Standards, Washington, D.C., using a sliding spark source. In Cu V the ground state multiplet 3d74F and the low lying multiplets 3d6(5D)4p6P0, 4F0, and 4D0 have been determined. In Cu VI the ground state multiplet 3d65D and the low lying multiplets 3d5(6S)4p5P0, 3d5(4P)4p5P0, and 3d5(4D)4p5D0 have been determined. Twenty-three lines have been classified in Cu V and 29 lines have been classified in Cu VI. Predictions for the intervals in the ground state multiplets 3d74F in the spectra of Zn VI and Ga VII and 3d65D in the spectra of Zn VII and Ga VIII are given.
