Abstract
This paper describes the completion of laboratory development work on a 765kV low-loss pipe-type AC transmission cable, employing oil-impregnated laminar insulation, comprising cellulose papers with a polypropylene film (PPP). Splice design and testing are emphasized. Additional testing of Sample 1 is described, as well as completed testing of Sample 2 involving two different splice designs. The economic impact of this new cable is considered. Test results demonstrate the quality and stability of the design.
