Abstract

The evaluation of numerous detergents for application in low-level liquid scintillation counting of tritium in an emulsion system is presented. In a typical operating mode of the selected system having a background of 9 counts/min, one count/min above background corresponds to 200 pCi/l. of water. This increased sensitivity is achieved by the application of a new detergent Triton N101. The described system is stable and reproducible.
