Abstract

Gamma rays de-exciting levels in 90Zr populated in the decay of 90Nb have been analysed with a Ge(Li) spectrometer. To enhance photopeaks from the weak transitions observed in recently reported conversion electron studies, the Compton background from the strong high-energy lines in the spectrum was suppressed by partially surrounding the Ge(Li) detector with a NaI(Tl) scintillator operated in anticoincidence. Energies, intensities, K-conversion coefficients, and probable multipolarities have been determined for 13 transitions. These transitions are placed in a decay scheme which includes 10 excited states in 90Zr.
