Abstract

The classical power expansion for the transmitted wave as a function of the wave-number, k, is carried to second order. This procedure yields very general formulas for the transmission cross-section, a, and the scattering pattern, F. The formulas are valid for arbitrary apertures, and evidence the influence of (i) the wave's angle of incidence on σ and F, and (ii) the scattering direction on, F.
