Abstract

Domino Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) system allows to enhance the operation of existing WPT systems. Domino WPT system uses additional resonator coils to increase power transfer distance and power transfer capability of the system. The efficiency of the system increases when coils are operating at the resonant frequency. This study analyzes the performance of domino WPT system with four aligned resonators. First of all, it examines the impact of resonant frequency on the performance of domino WPT system. All the coils have been separated by 15 cm, and the maximum efficiency of 65% has been achieved at frequency of 18.5 kHz. Then, the paper studies the influence of the separation gap between the coils on the domino WPT system efficiency. As it was expected, the maximum power transfer efficiency has been achieved at the separation distance of the 21 cm. This point is referred as critical coupled point and the efficiency of the system is about 100%. The relation between the coil size and power transfer distance has been established. Finally, entire domino WPT system has been developed in MATLAB Simulink program to observe output power. According to the simulation results, domino coil configuration allows to increase output power of regular WPT system almost by three times.
