Abstract
The very low field susceptibility ( H ext⩽10 oe) of a single crystal of MnSi parallel to the [111] direction shows a very sharp peak at T N = 29±0.3 K. Below this temperature the susceptibility is strongly enhanced after cycling the external field (±1000 oe) and the remanent, zero field magnetic state shows the presence of a regular magnetic non-uniformity apparently corresponding to a 32-polar arrangement, but no dipolar remanence. This zero field state shows a considerable degree of hysteresis during field cycling which agrees qualitatively with observation of the variation of neutron diffraction pattern with applied field.
