Abstract

Low field ac susceptibility measurements on high Tc Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductors of several nominal compositions have been carried out in order to explain their dissipative behaviour. It appears that eddy currents and Meissner effect are the mechanisms involved. A dissipation factor defined as X″/X′ shows this clearly.
