Abstract

The recent development of monoenergetic beams of positrons, with low energy and high intensity, allows positron implantation inside materials at a controlled depth. After an introduction on the processes involved in the annihilation of positrons inside materials and on the production of monoenergetic beams, some examples will show the application of slow positrons for the study of vacancy type defects in the near surface region.
