Abstract

Modified static-exchange calculations for the low-energy elastic scattering of electrons by Kr and Xe atoms are presented in the range of energy 0.1-20.0 eV using Roothaan-Hartree-Fock atomic wavefunctions. The exchange interaction is treated exactly, while the correlation, distortion and polarisation effects are accounted for by a parameter-free correlation-polarisation potential. Differential and total elastic cross sections are calculated and compared with recent experimental and theoretical work for these processes.
