Abstract
A new technique is described to examine ion-molecule reactions that take place in a modified ion source similar to the type described by Čermák and Herman. The reaction of N 2 + colliding with N 2 leading to the formation of N ÷ has been studied. The dependence of the cross-section for the reaction on translation energy and on the energy of the electron-forming N 2 + was examined.
