Abstract

In normal-weight women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hyperandrogenism accompanies increased abdominal fat mass and accelerated subcutaneous (SC) abdominal stem cell differentiation into adipocytes in vitro (1-4). This study examined whether androgen receptor blockade by low-dose flutamide administration to normal-weight PCOS women lowers abdominal fat mass and/or reduces accelerated SC abdominal stem cell lipid accumulation during adipocyte development in vitro and if so whether such changes alter metabolism.
