Abstract

We present analyses of SAAO low-dispersion spectra and COSMOS photographic photometry of 49 B-type stellar candidates selected from the United Kingdom Schmidt Telescope (UKST) UBVRI survey. Four of the stars are possibly normal B-type stars at large z-distances from the galactic plane. For these objects, we present approximate atmospheric parameters based on a comparison of the stellar Hγ lines with theoretical profiles, and spectral types based on MK classification and the Johnson Q parameter. Spectral types are also provided for the remaining stars, which are OB-type subdwarfs.
