Abstract

Ce-doped (0 wt%, 2 wt%, 4 wt%, 8 wt%) SnO2 nanocomposites were prepared by a simple one-step hydrothermal method. Through various characterization methods, it was found that the SnO2 nanospheres doped with 4 wt% Ce were of high purity and mesoporous. The test results show that the sensor based on 4 wt% Ce-SnO2 has superior performance than others, and it exhibits a high response value (S = 59) to 100 ppm ethanol at 200 °C, short response/recovery times (3 s/7s), and excellent selectivity and long-term stability. The material is expected to be excellent materials for ethanol detection in the field of gas-sensitive sensors.
