Abstract

Integrated circuit chips-based stepper motor controllers are widely used in industry and other market sectors. A low-cost integrated circuit-based controller for stepper motors has been reported. This paper describes an integrated circuit-based controller which controls the speed and direction of a stepper motor at a 55% reduction in cost. The full functional capabilities of the employed integrated circuit chips are realized. This allows the employed integrated chips to be utilized to their full capacity, leading to a cost-effective, compact, and a more reliable controller. The proposed controller is designed, simulated using PSpice, constructed and successfully tested with the EV80C51FB microcontroller board.
