Abstract

This paper describes a low cost microprocessor based draughting system called PAD (Power Assisted Draughting or Partially Automated Draughting). It provides for the creating, editing and storing of picture elements and employs a user defined command language for combining elements and text into drawings. User defined commands can be nested to expand the system and tailored to individual requirements. Commands can be generalized by omitting parameters or shape names which produces a prompting system. Features provided include automatic repetition of elements, hatching, curve fitting and automatic dimensioning. The paper ends by discussing three-dimensional extensions to the system.
