Abstract

Abstract In the present study, a peripheral interface controller (PIC) based control unit has been designed and constructed for a friction welding machine. For the experimental processes of joining for low carbon steel, the machine was controlled by PIC based set up. In order to test the system, 11 different values of each welding parameters such as friction time, friction pressure, forging time and forging pressure were experimented. For each parameter set up at least three samples were examined. The joining results have shown that the system works successfully and gives good performance for practical applications.
