Abstract
Both wood and metal are important construction materials in human history. The combination of engineered wood and metal demonstrates a promising strategy to construct robust and sustainable structural materials for building and advanced manufacturing in the modern era. However, the metal corrosion in wood seriously shortens the service life of this integrated structure. This article previews the latest finding on the corrosion behavior of metal embedded in engineered wood that realizes a low-corrosivity structural timber design.
