Abstract
In this paper, a low complexity receive antenna selection (RAS) technique is proposed for uplink multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) scheme to maximize the sum rate and maintain high user capacity over correlated Rayleigh fading channels. It is based on the Euclidean norms of overall channel matrix rows and the corresponding phase differences due to their direct impact on the capacity. For total transmit antennas U and receive antennas M, conducted analysis and simulations have shown near optimal performance for all SNR and correlation values at complexity of O(MU2) vector calculations. The designed technique provides fast RAS to capture most of the capacity gain promised by multiantenna systems over different channel conditions resulting into more efficient spectrum utilization for future wireless communications.
