Abstract

The use of a maximum likelihood (ML) detection scheme is known to be optimum to mitigate other-cell interference near the cell boundary. However, it may not be applicable mainly due to implementation complexity. To alleviate this problem, we consider combined use of ML and minimum-mean-square-error based ordered successive interference cancellation (MMSE-OSIC) detection. The proposed scheme considers ML metric only for signal vectors of desired and adjacent base stations determined by the MMSE-OSIC. Simulation results show that when applied to the mobile-WiMAX systems, the proposed scheme can provide performance almost the same as the ML detection scheme.
