Abstract

AbstractExperimental evidence demonstrating reversible hydrogen transfer between specific positions in the molecular ions of anisole and o‐toluic acid suggests stepwise mechanisms for the loss of CH2O and H2O, respectively. Added support for a stepwise mechanism for the loss of CH2O is found in the mass spectra of pyridine and quinoline analogues.
