Abstract
Distribution system is the end stage in the power system which distributes power from generating station to the customer. Since the electrical energy demand is increasing day by day even today with the limited resources of generation of electrical power. It is not possible to meet the demand. The transmission losses are main problem to meet the consumer’s demand. By reducing the losses through transmission and distribution, it is possible to meet some extend. The losses in transmission system can be reduced by placing distributed generator in such manner and by placing compensating devices at distribution system, the level of losses would decrease. The reconfiguration of distribution system along with optimization techniques can make the system more reliable for selecting suitable tie switches in the system. Now-a-days optimizing techniques such as heuristic algorithms are inspired with nature and developed flexible algorithms which will work to multi-disciplines. In this paper, a hybrid optimization technique is used to minimize the power losses with optimal placement along with reconfiguration of radial distribution system.
