Abstract

Due to their specific properties such as thinness, high permeability, low power losses and stress sensitivity, amorphous materials are difficult to test in Epstein apparatus. Use of Single Testers (SST) facilitates considerably sample preparation and prevents inducing unintentional stress in the ribbons. In order to eliminate excessive measurement errors, present in the case of most commonly used SSTs, a measuring principle based on a compensation method has been applied. Tests carried out on the compensated SST confirmed its suitability for measurements on amorphous materials.
