Abstract

Most of the QoS differentiation proposals for OBS are built upon a few traditional basic mechanisms. We propose a novel basic differentiation mechanism, Time domain Cloning Differentiation (TCD), based on the cloning concept. TCD evolves our previous QoS-MWST proposal, which was only applicable in limited and no wavelength conversion capable networks. TCD can also be used with full wavelength conversion capability. We also develop an analytical model of TCD in a single link, and present Proportional differentiation TCD, which provides edge-to-edge proportional loss differentiation based on TCD. We show that TCD outperforms other basic differentiation mechanisms.
