Abstract

The efforts of the Public Library of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata to build a significant collection of newspapers of historical interest, published in our country and other Latin American nations, are analyzed. It is stressed that that interest is permanent, with the acquisition and preservation of newspapers of national and local circulation, and with newspapers microfilming programs. A list of newspapers of historical interest, published before 1861, is included.
