Abstract

Several things must be done in the irrigation system. One of them is data collection, which helps supply planning, distribution, and management of annual water. However, irrigation monitoring may be difficult to execute due to the broad agricultural land and extreme weather conditions. Many researchers have developed Internet of Things (IoT)-based devices to monitor irrigation canals. The equipment of LoRa has attracted many researchers due to its broader coverage and low consumption. However, the agricultural land may be vast, thus monitoring the irrigation with only one device will not be sufficient Besides, collisions may occur when multinode transmission is operated. At the same time, there is no management for when a new device is added. For this reason, in this research, a data communication protocol has been implemented to regulate multinode data communication. The routing protocol is also able to manage additional nodes. By performing communication optimization on LoRa, it is possible to expand the irrigation monitoring reach efficiently.
