Abstract

This investigation is a contribution to the knowledge of the two-phase flow problem. A measuring device for water-sand mixtures, a Loop System, was tested. The Loop System consisted of two identical vertical pipe sections with opposite direction. Head loss readings were obtained at both pipe sections. The summation of the readings could be correlated with the flow rate and their difference was shown to be proportional to the solid concentration. The experimental results were obtained in a piece of equipment, especially developed for the study of solid-water mixtures in pipe lines.
