Abstract

The growing threats in the 21st century to militarize outer space and turn it into a theater of operations determine the development of various documents to prevent an arms race in outer space both within the framework of the Conference on Disarmament and on the basis of different international forums. The UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space discusses on an ongoing basis its agenda the issue of ensuring the long-term sustainability of outer space activities. This article contains a comprehensive analysis of key areas presented through the prism of the main 1967 Outer Space Treaty, designed to ensure "the peaceful use and exploration of outer space".
