Abstract

The paper discusses long-term archiving, preservation and access to digital data. From the US National Archives, and the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) to the national libraries of the Netherlands and Australia, archivists, computer scientists, and librarians are pioneering the technologies that might someday become the methods our descendants use to access every sort of record of our time.
