Abstract

Recently, we showed that a qualitative description of the spectroscopic properties of odd-odd deformed nuclei can be obtained by using polarized single-particle spin operators in the effective neutron-proton interaction. In this letter, we show that for a more quantitative description of the Gallagher-Moszkowski doublets one must also include a long-range repulsive term. Both effects are expected to be due to the core polarization.
