Abstract

The longitudinal vibrations of abutments with equipment installed at the upper end are studied. The problem of the longitudinal impact experienced by such an abutment upon setting with a given speed onto the foundation and abrupt application of the weight of such a structure is solved. The natural frequencies and general stresses of the structure are analyzed. The parameters of the system at which approximate theories can be used are determined
