Abstract

Longitudinal studies with ordinal response data may be fitted by using a threshold response model in which threshold parameters are related to regression variables and also to random components which account for correlations between observations on the same subject. The threshold parameters may be constant or time varying. Residual maximum likelihood estimators are developed and applied to two problems involving skin treatment. A small simulation study supports the estimation procedure
