Abstract

Similar quasi-steady two-peak corotating structures during the descending and/or the minimum phases can be recognized from each series of the even or odd solar cycles. However, the phase of the structure seems to shift a large amount, probably reversing, from one cycle to the next. Such quasi-steady structures were inferred from the geomagnetic data, and have been confirmed by the coronal and interplanetary observations during the last two solar cycles. The implications about the long-term evolution of the tilted general solar magnetic field are discussed.
