Abstract

Previous work in mice has identified peri-adolescence as a critical period for BDNF’s role in hippocampal neuroplasticity. With the goal of extending this seminal finding to living humans, we investigated the relationship between imputed BDNF gene expression and changes in the trajectory of hippocampal gray matter volume (GMV) across the important developmental window from childhood to adulthood.
