Abstract

AbstractFor plasmas consisting of charged particles an improvement of the RPA dielectric function is considered which accounts especially for the possibility of the formation of bound states. The polarizability contains contributions of bound states as well as of scattering states. The imaginary part of the dielectric function describes optical transitions, and expressions for the electrical conductivity are obtained.
